The Caught in the Hunt quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is one of the most memorable side missions in Cyrodiil. Players must investigate the mysterious disappearance of a missing husband in Bravil. This quest leads to a deadly game of survival on a isolated island.

Starting the Quest in Bravil

To begin the quest, travel to Bravil and listen for local rumors about Ursanne Loche's missing husband, Aleron. Speaking with Ursanne reveals that Aleron was taken due to a heavy gambling debt owed to Kurdan gro-Dragol. Confronting Kurdan leads to an agreement where you must retrieve a family heirloom from Fort Grief.

Surviving the Trap at Fort Grief

Upon taking the boat to Fort Grief, you quickly discover that the heirloom quest was a trap. Aleron informs you that Kurdan uses the island to hunt human prey for sport alongside wealthy clients. You must navigate through the dangerous halls of Hunter's Run, defeating the armed hunters to collect key items needed to escape.

Confronting Kurdan and Escaping

After acquiring the necessary key inside the ruins, return outdoors to witness the final showdown. Kurdan confronts and slays Aleron before turning his aggression toward you. Defeat Kurdan, loot the gate key from his body, and use the lever inside the fort to open the main gate.

Completing the Quest and Avoiding Glitches

Return to Bravil via the boat to deliver the news of Aleron's fate to Ursanne. She rewards you with a speechcraft skill book titled Biography of the Wolf Queen. To prevent common progression bugs, ensure you wait for quest updates before looting bodies or moving key items.
